Starting a business is both a dream, a challenge and an adventure. But what does it really mean to "become an entrepreneur" today? This conference, organized by the ULiège Starters Corner and the Alumni Office of the University of Liège, invites you to explore the many facets of entrepreneurship, beyond clichés and misconceptions, to better understand what it truly involves in practice.
Aimed at ULiège students and recent graduates considering entrepreneurship, this event offers a structured, inspiring journey filled with practical advice.
The conference will begin with a presentation of the ULiège Starters Corner and its ecosystem: a network of resources, spaces and key players mobilized to support project initiators. It will continue with David Goessens, entrepreneur, financial consultant, and entrepreneur at VentureLab Belgium, who will guide us through the typical path of an entrepreneur, from idea to realization.
He will then present key figures on entrepreneurship in Belgium before addressing a crucial question: should you start alone or with partners? Basic financial concepts will also be shared, along with guidance on when to establish a company, how to recruit, and how to manage a team.
The conference will also highlight the entrepreneur’s key partners, while addressing a frequently overlooked aspect: how to maintain personal balance without burning out.
A highlight of the event will be the testimony of a ULiège Alumni entrepreneur, who will share their experience, successes, and lessons learned.
Finally, we will close with a reminder of upcoming Starters Corner activities for those who wish to take their entrepreneurial journey further.

The ULiège Starters Corner: a flagship space for entrepreneurship
The Starters Corner is an initiative of the University of Liège, financially supported by Wallonie Entreprendre. Designed as a true convergence point for students wishing to start a business, this physical space is located at HEC Liège, 14 rue Louvrex.
More than just a space, the Starters Corner is a vibrant and inspiring hub dedicated to student entrepreneurship. It aims to create a dynamic community around the desire to start a business, offering an environment conducive to exchange, training and support.
ULiège students will find there:
- Information sessions on entrepreneurial support systems available at the university;
- Thematic workshops to develop key skills (Design Thinking, pretotyping, pitching, etc.);
- Conferences led by entrepreneurs, experts, and Alumni;
- Personalized support for those with entrepreneurial ideas;
- Networking opportunities to meet other students, mentors, and partners.
